Premier League legend Alan Shearer has heaped a truckload of praise on Aston Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi following his fine form recently for his Aston Villa side. His impressive form has also facilitated his inclusion in Shearer’s team of the week lineup.
El Ghazi, 25, is currently enjoying a rich run of form for Aston Villa and has scored three goals in as many games for Dean Smith’s side. He also scored a brace in the comprehensive 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion the last time out.
The brace means El Ghazi now has four goals to his name so far this campaign – an impressive return from a player of his quality. He probably would have had more goals to his name but he was sidelined and cast away from the team in the opening stages of the campaign.
His exclusion from the team saw him miss six games and was only subbed on in each of the following four games that came by. He was named in the starting lineup for the first time this season against Burnley last week, and the Dutchman has since been providing the goods as he keeps repaying the faith his manager has shown in him.
El Ghazi’s first start against Burnley indifferent as he spurned away glorious chances but after getting a second straight start against the Baggies, he made no mistake and paid for his sins at the first time of asking.
He was in such sublime form against West Brom that it had to make a superb save from Sam Johnstone to deny him his hat-trick. However, it was an overall top performance from him and his place in the team of the week compiled by Alan Shearer was a well-deserved one.
Speaking about adding El Ghazi to his team of the week, Shearer started by raising him for scoring two goals and added that he could have even scored more.
Shearer added that the Dutchman has added more threat going forward for the Villans and that he hopes the winger continues his fine form.
